Internal Collaboration: Creating Intrapersonal Harmony Through the Use of Internal Family Systems and Dance/Movement Therapy

This workshop is geared towards the clinician interested in learning how to work collaboratively with the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model and DMT theory and practice. Participants explore the fundamentals of IFS; how the system’s defenses are mapped; how to unburden parts and build inner resources within the Self. The participant didactically and experientially navigates the collaboration between IFS and DMT as a bridge between the body and mind.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the three aspects of the intrapersonal system according to the IFS model: managers, firefighters and exiles.

  2.  Learn ways in which the IFS model can support and inform body based DMT interventions especially through the use of the Core Self.

  3. Gain increased sensitivity and empathy in working with protected systems.
