Motivational Interviewing (MI) with Dance/Movement Therapy

This webinar explores the basic tenets and techniques of Rollnick and Miller’s Motivational Interviewing approach to change. The synergistic relationship between Motivational Interviewing, Dance/Movement Therapy theory and practice, and Prochaska and DiClemente’s Stages of Change Model are illuminated.

Jessica Young is an Associate Professor at Columbia College Chicago in the Department of Creative Arts Therapies. She has presented workshops in dance/movement therapy, clinical supervision, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and violence prevention nationally and internationally. She also provides BC-DMT and LCPC supervision, is active in the American Dance Therapy Association, and continues to choreograph and perform. She strongly values collaborative, creative, and caring relationships to promote health and well being. Previously, Jessica has worked extensively with adults who are homeless and living with severe mental illness and addiction.
