Moving Moments in Childhood Masterclass, Part I Introduction

Dance/movement therapy can enhance the therapeutic space by using a lens focusing on the body and movement. Mental health providers and educators can incorporate movement and the integration of mind and body within their practice. The modality of dance/movement therapy forges the way for integrative practices and a “whole-child” focused approach to cognitive, physical, social, and emotional health. Learn that D.A.N.C.E is present in every interaction, from verbal or nonverbal communication to our simple heartbeat, breath, and eye blinks to our grand leaps and twirls - join us to find the methods that integrate and unite us all. 

Learning Objectives:

1.Experience the D.A.N.C.E method for integrating therapeutic movement into clinical practice with children.

2. Receive hands-on techniques and feedback to further understand the integral aspects of a mind/body approach for children. 

3.  Listen & watch anecdotal evidence to support the therapeutic methods, further providing an understanding for use in clinical practice.

Presenter Bios

 

Dr. Lori Baudino, PsyD, BC-DMT, has been a practicing clinician for over 20 years. Her work fuses integrative health into private practice, hospital care, parent education, and academic development.

Rachael Singer, BC-DMT, is an early childhood educator and dance/movement therapist working with children, families, and caregivers for 18 years in a variety of settings.
